Marathon Runs in Turkey? Merhaba all my dear friends in the Turkey section! This Sunday is the Athens Marathon, in which I'll be "running" (more like dying). I was curious as to what marathon runs there are in Turkey, and how popular they are. I found the official site about the Istanbul Eurasia Marathon. Is this marathon considered a big deal in Istanbul? Does it get much press coverage? Do many people go out to watch it? In general, how popular is marathon/long distance running in Turkey? Are there clubs/organizations for long distance runners in Turkey? Thanks for any answers you all might give! :-)

Istanbul Marathon? Has anyone here ran the Istanbul Marathon? Although it is not planned until the end of October, I need to plan tickets and increased practice mileage ASAP. Also, some other marathons reach a full sign-up much earlier than the event or simply have early deadlines for registration. I don't know if that is the case with the Istanbul marathon, but at any rate would need to make plans soon. As such, I am also curious about the likelihood of cancellation, although I think it is a very low likelihood. I appreciate any constructive comments, and non-constructive commentary will be immediately reported. Of course, I forgot to ask the most important part: If you have ran the Istanbul marathon, then how was it?
